Coinciding with its initiative to promote and encourage children's reading, Collins Booksellers Edwardstown is holding the book launch for This Little Roo Went to Market by bestselling children's illustrator Mandy Foot, who has sold over 100,000 picture books.

To date, Mandy is a published illustrator of 10 children's books all involving animals. She is also a self-proclaimed animal nut and horse lover and works in a studio also occupied by two sheepdogs, Cody and Mav, and a cat affectionately known as Kung Fu Maow Maow.

South Australian Illustrator, Mandy Foot says, 'what I enjoy most is capturing the character of my subject, whether it be a realistic pet portrait or stampeding farm animals in a children's book -to me, it's all about the character!'

Mandy says, 'my career as an illustrator began in the early nineties when as a prerequisite for completing my Bachelor of Design, specialising in Illustration Studies at the University of South Australia, I commenced illustrating the various animals, both animated and realistic at the Adelaide Zoo. I sat in the Zoo for hours, watching, drawing, photographing the animals, so I was able to create the vibrant watercolour images I desired.'

Come bring the kids and listen to Mandy as she tells the magical story of The little roo who went to market.

This little croc had tasty treats.

This little quokka had none.'%%**

When this little roo goes to market, this little platypus stays home. What surprise are the other Aussie animals planning while little roo is away?

This will be a wonderful opportunity for children to meet Mandy and chat with her about her books and experiences as an illustrator and writer.

Mandy will be in Collins Booksellers Edwardstown to promote her new book This Little Roo Went to Market on Saturday 26th September at 11.00 am.
