Comedy and drama from the corridors of power

This House, a production by the National Theatre and Chichester Festival Theatre, is set in the corridors of Westminster during one of Britain's most chaotic political periods.

Stop-offs in the Midlands will see the play performed at Nottingham Theatre Royal from April 10 to 14, Birmingham Repertory Theatre from April 17 to 21 April and Malvern Theatres from May 15 to 19.

The scene is set in 1974, when infighting within Britain's political parties' was rife resulting in even fist fights in the parliamentary bars. This comedy-drama strips politics down to the practical realities, from the whips to the MPs.

The play is directed by Jeremy Herrin, who was nominated as Best Director in the 2013 Olivier Awards for his work on This House at the National Theatre. Herrin went on to direct the successful adaptations of Hilary Mantel's novels Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies for the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC).

This House gives us a timely, moving and often amusing insight into the workings of British politics and has a live band on stage that plays music from that era.

The cast includes actors who appeared in This House during its stint in London's West End including Ian Houghton, David Hounslow, Matthew Pidgeon, Tony Turner and Orlando Wells.
