'Thirsty Merc' presented their 'Take Me Back tour' at The Norwood Hotel on Friday December 15th. This show was a celebration of 15 years of music. The Norwood Hotel was packed with fans from baby bombers to generation Y waiting to sing-a-long and celebrate. After seeing Thirsty Merc at The Arkaba in 2016, fans came back and made this an even bigger event.
The show opened with the vocal stylings of Queensland's Caitlin Chapel, who offered a country vibe, singing original songs and covers. She ended her set with a mashup of songs including Jason Mraz 'Im Yours', Trains 'Hey Soul Sister', U2's 'With or Without You', Eminem's 'When I'm Gone' and crowd favourite, Daryl Braithwaite's 'Horses'.
Thirsty Merc formed in 2002 and they still sound incredible today. Releasing their first single in 2003 and their last album in 2015, their sound still captivates the audience as much as it did when they first began. Current members include Rai Thistlethwayte on vocals, piano & guitar, Phil Stack on bass and Matt Smith on guitar.
Take Me Back marks 15 years that fans have fallen in love with their music. The set-list for the 'Take Me Back' Tour featured the songs that made them famous alongside crowd favorites including 'In The Summertime', 'Someday Someday', '20 Good Reasons', 'Those Eyes', 'The Hard Way', Mousetrap Heart', 'The Good Life', 'Understanding Love', 'Touch and Go', 'I Fall in Love', 'The Grind', 'Tommy and Krista' and more. The highlight of this show was watching The Norwood Hotel full of fans singing with the band to 'In The Summertime'.
Lead Singer Raj Thistlethwayte said "It's thanks to the fans that we're still here, loving life and music, 15 years later and this tour is a big "thank you" to everyone who's sung along with us over the years, as well as a great opportunity to dust off some songs we've never included in our shows".
