Thinking Green is a series of FREE community, sustainable living workshop events presented by the City of Swan each year. The series aims to inspire participants to change their lifestyle in order to improve their wellbeing and be kinder to the environment. Find the Thinking Green program here in PDF Format.

  • Sat 20 Feb 10am-12pm - Paper Beads & Rolled Paper Jewellery (Beechboro) - Repurpose old paper into paper beads and turn them into beautiful pieces of jewellery. Suitable for adults and young people aged 14 plus. Create your own piece during the workship and also receive a small gift to take home.
  • Wed 24 Feb 5.30-6.30pm - Solar, Batteries and What's New (Caversham) - Join solar energy experts Clean NRG Solar and learn all about the latest solar innovations! Suitable for adults and young people aged 14 plus.
  • Sat 27 Feb 10.30am-12.30pm - Basic Bike Maintenance (Ellenbrook) - Learn the basics of bike maintenance during this two hour hands-on workshop. Suitable for adults and young people aged 14 plus. Children as young as 8 may attend if accompanied by an adult. Attendees will receive a puncture repair kit to take home.


  • Sat 6 Mar 10am-12.30pm - Sustainable Native Gardens (Baskerville Hall) - Do you want to create a beautiful, unique and water-wise native garden? You'll also be shown how to test soil pH along with a mason jar test. Participants can bring in soil samples if they wish. Suitable for adults and young people aged 14 plus. Attendees will receive a seedling to take home and get their native garden started.
  • Sat 6 Mar 10am-12.30pm - Paper Beads & Rolled Paper Jewellery (Bullsbrook) - As per aforementioned event above.
  • Sat 6 Mar 1-3pm - Coiled Baskets (Bullsbrook) - Create something practical and chic out of old cloth and grasses. Suitable for adults and young people aged 14 plus. All materials provided however you are welcome to bring in fabric and cloth you would like to upcycle. Please note that this event has been postponed - however worthy bookmarking to check in for updates and possible rescheduling this program.


  • Sat 13 Mar 10.30am-12.30pm - Basic Bike Maintenance (Bullsbrook) - As per aforementioned event above.
  • Sat 20 Mar 10am-12pm - Basic Bike Maintenance (Midland) - As above.
  • Sat 27 Mar 10.30am-1pm - Low Cost Gardening (Ellenbrook) - On a budget, renting or not sure where to start with gardening without having to spend a heap of money? Find out practical ways to garden on a budget. Suitable for Adults only. This is a presentation and attendees will receive a small take home seed starter kit.
