Welcome to the Secret List: a list of fun, different and unusual things to do with your kids each month. It may not be exhaustive, but there should be something for every family, no matter how old your kids are, where you live, and how much you have to spend.

Why is it a secret? Because if your kids find out about all the things on this list, they will beg you to do everything on it.

The Fremantle Heritage Festival
The City of Fremantle runs a festival every year to celebrate its diverse cultural, social, natural and built heritage. Finishing on the 4th of June, there are a number of events remaining that the kids might enjoy, including displays of over 80 vintage prams and motorbikes from every era. Send the girls in one direction, boys in the other and everyone is happy. [Except those people who think I am being sexist.]

When: June 2nd, from 11am
Where: High Street Mall and Kings Square
Cost: free

This pram is just old. For real vintage prams go to the Fremantle Heritage Festival

Model Train Show
Who doesn't love a model train? Incorporating a display by the Perth Adult Lego Society [not as naughty as it sounds], the AMRA Model Train Show is on at the Claremont Showgrounds over the June long weekend. For train-spotters and Thomas fans alike, your little engines will feel very big indeed.

When: June 2nd to 4th from 9.30am to 4pm
Where: Claremont Showgrounds
Cost: Kids $5, Adults $10, Family $25

The model train show will be much better than this.

Running for the entire month of June (and through until the end of the October school holidays) Scitech is hosting a dinosaur invasion. With 16 interactive displays, your budding palaeontologist can learn even more dino-riffic facts to entertain you at dinner time. Kids can dig for bones, discover what dinosaurs ate (and what happened to it after it was eaten) and test the strength of a T-Rex jaw.

When: all of June
Where: Scitech, City West Centre, West Perth
Cost: Kids (4-15 years) $9, Adults $14, Family $38, kids under 3 free

Play-Doh Imagination Factory
It might be every mother's nightmare, but it's every kid's dream. Play-Doh and lots of it. Every Tuesday in June, kids can make their very own play-doh food creations and then take it home to rub into the carpet!

When: every Tuesday in June, from 10am-1pm
Where: Fresh Food Court, Karrinyup Shops
Cost: free

Nitro Circus Live
One for the boys perhaps, the action sports touring team, aka Nitro Circus is on a world-wide tour and is in Perth for one day of freestyle motor-cross, stunts, skateboarding, action sports, jumps and all round craziness.

When: June 9th 7.30pm
Where: Burswood Dome

Beverley Clydesdale and Vintage Day
Leave the city behind and take the family for a day in the country. Events include the working sheep dog finals, hobby horses, farm animals, tractor rides, market stalls and of course the iconic Clydesdale horses in action. Don't forget to pack your wellies.

Dinosaur Petting Zoo
Just in case you haven't had enough dino-action, or you are looking for a way of disposing of the kids, the WA Museum is offering the opportunity to pet, feed and interact with dinosaurs. Well, you probably can't feed your kids to these dinosaurs, but the kids will certainly love the large-scale dinosaur puppets and you will be amazed by the incredible design, electronics and theatrics.

When: June 25th (all the way through the July School holidays)
Where: WA Museum
Cost: Adults $15, kids $12.50, family $48, book online quickly as sessions are filling quickly

Sounds great. My daughter is quite big now, but I think we'd like to try a few of those anyway!
