Located about 100km north of Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast is a perfect weekend getaway with family and friends. The Sunshine Coast is well known for its stunning beaches, green scenery and the famous Steve Irwin Zoo. I have listed below some of our favourite things to do during out visits to the sunny coast.
1.
Relax at the beach
There is no shortage of beaches to be found at the Sunshine Coast. This place offers some of the best beaches to soak in the sun, swim, go surfing and build sand castles with your little ones. There are many popular beaches around the area but our personal favourite would have to be
Mooloolaba .
2.
The Eumundi Markets
Located in the beautiful town of Eumundi, these markets run every Wednesday and Sunday throughout the year. Locals and families from interstate gather to enjoy the great produce, art pieces and craft this market has to offer. There are stalls for absolutely everyone so it is definitely worth checking out if you're in the area. If shopping around isn't your thing, you can order up a breakfast/lunch and enjoy some live music with it. Find out more

3.
Glass House Mountains
If you're someone who loves adventures, this is perfect for you. The Glass House Mountains are a great option throughout the year for hikes, bushwalks and picnics. The walking tracks vary in difficulty which means that there is a walk for all of us. Upon arrival, stop at the visitor information centre where the lovely staff will provide you with details on tours, activities and accommodation options. Find out more

4.
Australia Zoo
The home of the crocodile hunter is an iconic place in Australia. The Australian Zoo is not only recognized as one of the best in our own country but also worldwide. The work that they do here is remarkable and deserves so much MORE credit. From educating our youth about wildlife conservation to allowing us to experience wildlife in such close proximity. Keep an eye out on
Groupon for cheaper ticket deals that pop up occasionally. Find out more

5.
Strawberry Picking
There are numerous family owned strawberry farms located along the Sunshine Coast. These farms allow both locals and tourist to experience working in a commercial farm and picking their own strawberries from the patch. Most farms have free admission which is great; you just pay for what you pick. Currently, most farms have finished their harvesting period and are closed till June this year. Find out more
here .
6.
Dolphin & Whale Watching
If you haven't already experienced this once in your lifetime, I would definitely recommend it. It is worth every penny to see these beautiful creatures in the wild, where they belong. It's a breathtaking experience and I cannot recommend this enough for families. Find out more
