Escape to the Gong
When you think of Wollongong, the beach usually springs to mind, however the city offers plenty of other activities.

Wollongong is an easy 2 and a half hour drive from Canberra for those who want a weekend away.

Jamberoo
Jamberoo Water Park offers a chance to cool off in this hot weather with rides and activities to please all age groups.
For an adrenalin rush, the Funnel Web cannot be missed. The ride combines speed, twists, darkness and zero gravity moments for a truly exhilarating ride.
The Funnel Web

If clinging to a raft for dear life isn't your thing, then there are plenty of other options like the Wave pool or Landscape golf.
The park is very child friendly with plenty of kiddie rides.

Be warned though that lines can be very long in School Holidays.
Children under 3: Free

Canoe and Kayak Adventures
A good way to spend a morning is a half day Kayak or Canoe adventure.

It is ideal for beginners, families and groups with the option of going solo in a kayak or being a team in a Canoe.

Fish spotting is easy, as the clear waters of the Minnamurra River offer plenty of fish and sea creatures swimming underneath your kayak.

I was lucky enough to have a pink spotted jellyfish shaped like a mushroom swim around my kayak. I affectionately nicknamed him "Sea-Shroom".

Once you've worked up an appetite from all the paddling, you are treated to lunch as part of your package.

The adventures leave from James Holt reserve which is only 30minutes from Wollongong.

Bombora Seafood
For all lovers of seafood Bombora Seafood is definitely worth a go.

The restaurant is located on the Wollongong Harbour and has licensed indoor and outdoor areas.

Their extensive menu offers food to cater for all tastes, including those who don't eat seafood.

Their Early Bird menu is fantastic value with 2 courses for $24.90 or 3 courses for $31.

The views of the harbour are beautiful and we found the service to be excellent.

The staff were very friendly and the food came out unbelievably fast.
