Given the pleasant climate in Australia during the same time harsh weather and huge temperature drops take over the Northern hemisphere, it's completely understandable why December is one those months during which the number of people flocking to Sydney soars. Of course, there are other reasons this is such a coveted destination during the holidays as there is a spectacular amount of things to do during the most festive month of the year.
Now, instead of just engaging in some of the more traditional holiday activities, this is perhaps the perfect time to make your list of New Year's resolutions and start ticking the items one by one even before January 1st comes knocking.

The common resolution **

One of the most common resolutions made by people all across the globe is to start eating healthier. There is absolutely no reason to wait 'till 2018 to actually put this promise to practice, so why not mix health and pleasure and during December go hunting for great and healthy places to eat. This way, not only will you be soaking all of Sydney's beauty but also making healthy choices on the way.

The list of some of the best places that offer both delicious and healthy meals includes Gathered Kitchen , Daily Eats, as well as Warren & Holt which offers organic whole foods. Then there's Egg of the Universe, Earth to Table, Yulli's and virtually countless more. So, start by making a list and ticking these amazing places one by one.

While on the healthy train…

Yes, healthy nutrition is one of the prerequisites of a healthy life, but if one of your resolutions really is to lead a healthier life, you need to make sure all your parts are in perfect order. This may not be the most joyous of December activities, but it necessary to kick off the New Year right. Pay a visit to your physician and get a full physical. After that, a dentist can fix whatever is wrong with your smile, so you don't have to spend the holidays in pain or hiding your smile.

Mix pleasure and pleasure

In the spirit of new beginnings, you could do something that combines pleasure and, well, more pleasure. Yes, we mean shopping. Aside from the mandatory Christmas shopping (which is fun), this is your chance to re-build your wardrobe. New Year – new you. Now, you could do a full cleanse and start building your capsule wardrobe – a concept that involves purchasing timeless pieces and getting rid of the clutter.

However, if you're 'the more the merrier' kind of dresser, you can always just make new additions to your wardrobe. There's an amazing event called Finders Keepers Market, where you can find amazing and innovative pieces made by local designers. The best part – the market doesn't feature only clothes and accessories, but also furniture, decoration, and other amazing things you can put under other people's Christmas trees, and it's all Australian-made so you'll be supporting local artisans as well. Good deed and super fun day.

A bit of nostalgia

If you've always been fascinated with New York even if you've never actually visited, this December, Art Gallery of NSW will be presenting a selection of movies dedicated to the exploration of New York from the late 1960s through to the 1980s. Don't expect sugary romances though, because this selection will include the kind of movies that present this iconic city through a brutally honest lens – no sugarcoating.

Daytime festivities

You may want to get up early on December 14th because that is the day the Christmas Fare takes place. The event is set to take place at Hyde Park Barracks from morning till sundown. Here, you can mingle with friends, drink beer in the middle of the day, and wander around browsing for everything from meat to artisan clothing. A great way to spend the day on a light beer-buzz, pleasant crowds, and you might even go home with a find or two.
