7 Things to do in Point Lonsdale

While staring at a map of Victoria to decide on my weekend getaway, I was drawn by the headland of
Point Lonsdale, situated right at the mouth of Port Phillip Bay opposite Point Nepean.
A 1.5-hour drive from Melbourne, this quaint, coastal town offers stunning views amidst a strip of shops and restaurants situated along the coast. It offers a peaceful getaway from the busyness of Melbourne and reminds us of the simple pleasures of life by the sea.
I found that the
Point Lonsdale Guest House was a surprisingly delightful choice for accommodation. Perfectly situated amidst the highlights of all Point Lonsdale has to offer, it is also well-priced with its own swimming pool, outdoor kitchenette equipped with a coffee machine and table tennis, as well as a tennis court.

Things To Do:**
1) Discover the Lighthouse
Walk down to the beach to discover the Point Lonsdale Lighthouse. Better yet, join a walking tour of the Point Lonsdale Lighthouse on Sundays led by the Queenscliffe Maritime Museum Inc volunteers for just $8. For more details, see
Point Lonsdale Lighthouse tours .
2) Visit Hardie Lookout followed by a Swim or Surf
Personally, I loved waking up early and going for a walk up towards Hardie Lookout. As I continued the walk down to the beach, I noticed many surfers taking on the waves. While surfing was not for me, I decided to jump into the water for some invigorating cold-water therapy. Meanwhile others preferred a more relaxed approach with a long walk along the beach.
3) Eat and Shop Your Way Down
With several cafes to choose from, get your choice of coffee from the popular cafe, Grow, or Pico Point. Over the weekend, this strip of cafes has a little bit of something for everyone's tastes. Visit the Uniting Church Op-Shop to find something for everyone in the family. And don't forget to check out
Noble Rot Wine Store and Bar for a cheeky drink or two! Not to mention their a la carte seasonal menu.
4) Shop local at Point Lonsdale Market
Held on the second Sunday of every month at Point Lonsdale Primary School, you will never know what crafts and treasures you will find! Not to mention the great produce and coffee!
5) Sketch or Play on Point Lonsdale Foreshore Reserve
I have to admit that I always bought take-aways and sat on the park benches, sketching the views, while children played on the playground of the Foreshore Reserve. With its stunning views, the whole family has something to do.
6) Attend a Yoga Class
Reconnect with your body and nature with
Yoga @ The Point who run classes across Point Lonsdale, Queenscliffe and Ocean Grove. It is one of my favourite things to do! For information on their classes, click
here.
7) Indulge in a Luxurious Spa Treatment
Wanting something extra special? Visit
Lon Retreat in a one-of-kind experience. Bathe in a mineral spa and treat yourself and a loved one to an indulgent massage or treatment on this stunning family-run farm that will take you to another world.
Need something more to do? Take a short five-minute drive to discover
