Aireys Inlet is a peaceful and entertaining town
Aireys Inlet is a coastal town on the Great Ocean Road, southwest of Melbourne, between Anglesea and Lorne. The town's main attraction is the Split Point Lighthouse. Aireys Inlet is is also great for swimming, dining, and touring. It is worth considering a stay here as part of a Great Ocean Road trip.
Fairhaven Beach nearby is popular with surfers, although swimmers should stick to beaches near Aireys inlet. Painkalac Creek, which separates Aireys Inlet from Fairhaven, forms a salt lake behind the sand dunes before it cuts through to the ocean, and is a scenic place for a dip. There is also a reef at Step Beach which forms an excellent swimming hole.
