A still illegal activity in many parts of the world, gambling has been legal in the state of Nevada since 1931. This is when the first casino in Las Vegas (Pair-o-Dice) club opened its doors, on U.S. Route 91. The first casino in the area known as Las Vegas Strip was inaugurated only 10 years later under the name of El Rancho. Its name does not feature the list of historical casinos in Vegas as El Rancho was 20 years after its inauguration destroyed by a fire. But these were only the beginnings… Nowadays Vegas offers over one hundred casinos and many other gambling spots: slots and poker machines, table games, etc.
Extreme summer heat, mild winters
Located in the Mojave Desert, Las Vegas can experience extreme temperatures during the hot season. The climate remains bearable as it is a dry heat. However, if you visit Vegas during the summer it is better you opt for indoors activities.
