There’s a Sea in my Bedroom - Presented by Australian Chamber Orchestra





A sea-tacular event and show hosted by the Sydney Opera House, and performed offsite at The Nielson, Pier 2/3. Families and kids can come along and watch the Australian Chamber Orchestra perform There’s a Sea in My Bedroom . This performance, held between the 28th of September and the 4th of October, is an adaptation of Margaret Wild’s book, There’s a Sea in My Bedroom from 1984. The book was illustrated by Jane Tanner and explores the magic of a child’s fantasy world and imagination.

Come along and be entranced by this immersive theatrical performance of a brilliant story. The performance has been adapted and directed by Tim McGarry. You’ll get to see how he has woven captivating storytelling with an original score by Peter Stanhope as it is performed by a quintet from the Australian Chamber Orchestra.

This performance is an enchanting production that is perfect for a young audience. It will touch on themes of joy, sadness and fear, but promises lots of laughter. This production was the ACO Families' first production ever, and premiered in 2019 – and returns for the September/October school holidays in 2024.

It is in English, and wheelchair accessible - call the Box Office for more information. Tickets cost $39, and it is unreserved seating, whilst babies under 2 are free as long as they don’t take up a seat.


There will be three performances each day the show is on at 10am, 11.30am and 2pm.
