Theobroma's hand made Belgian chocolates, South Bank - don't they just look heavenly?
Before visiting this chocoholics heaven, it is useful to know that the word
Theobroma literally translates as "food of the gods" and is actually the Latin name for a
Cacao plant. With a name like that, you'd expect a fair amount of high quality chocolate to feature on the menu, and it does. They serve everything from hand made truffles to fruit-chocolate fondue, with all things chocolate in between.

Theobroma Chocolate Lounge Bar and Cafe is located on Little Stanley Street, South Bank and is one of a Melbourne-born chain of Theobromas, which are multiplying very quickly around the world.

Chocolate heaven - Theobroma Chocolate Lounge
The Brisbane cafe's central position makes it a great spot to stop in for some refreshments if you're anywhere nearby, particularly if you consider yourself a chocolate connoisseur and need to rest on some comfy chocolate-coloured leather chairs.

The stylish
Theobroma Chocolate Lounge Bar and Cafe serves a range of typical restaurant food, such as Nachos, sandwiches, burgers and salads, however, you simply cannot leave without trying their signature Belgian chocolate waffles and/or their decadent gourmet cakes. I also highly recommend the Belgian hot chocolate (official beverage of the gods) which comes in white, dark, milk or caramel flavours, served in specialty cups and warmers. We took home a selection of hand made heart and rose shaped chocolates to share, which was presented in a stylish gift box. I have included a picture of their hand made chocolate selection at the top of this article to get you tempted.
