Summer fun at the Wheaty. Get along to this huge street party in February. It's a free event and will be family friendly - there'll be something for everyone!
The Wheaty is smack bang in the middle of Thebarton - the town that
Colonel William Light lived in when he came to, and laid the plans for, Adelaide. The suburb was named after Colonel Light's English home - Theberton Hall. It sits just west of the CBD, on the edge of Bonython Park.
Thebartonia, the street party, will start at 3pm and finish at midnight. The street in front of the
Wheatsheaf Hotel will be closed for traffic, which means there'll be plenty of room for an outdoor stage, food trucks, free face painting for the kids, Hare of the Dog market stalls and a bar.
The top class entertainment playing on the outdoor stage will be:
Exeter Blues, Adam Page and Django Rowe, Kelly Menhennett and Band, Kings and Associates, Hana Brenecki and Band, COMA (Creative Original Music Adelaide) will be represented by Didier Kumalo, the Baker Suite and Cosmo Thundercat. Throughout the day there'll also be roving performances by Circobats and the Atlantic Street Band.
The Wheaty have been great supporters of and are committed to the development of up and coming music artists in South Australia and have been hosting
COMA sessions since 2005.
Thebartonia is a great line up of an eclectic mix of country, blues, and folk grooves and tunes and will be sure to be crowd pleasers for young and old.
Put this date into your diary - Saturday the 3rd of February 2018, at the Wheaty on the corner or George Street and Albert Road, Thebarton.
Thebartonia is a licensed event (no BYO allowed).
