The
Yarun Ephemera Exhibition is something new and amazing included in this year’s
Bribie Island Nature Festival .
Ah, “What is an
‘Ephemera Exhibition’?” I hear you ask. Well, put briefly, it means you’re going to have to get your skates on or you’ll miss out altogether.
This unique exhibition consists entirely of ephemeral art which, while it comes in many forms, is artwork that only occurs once for a short time and then is gone. This special Exhibition is ephemeral because the works of art on display are all formed from nature and will exist only briefly before returning to nature.
Examples of ephemeral art in nature
The
Yarun Ephemera Exhibition celebrates the natural resources of Bribie and links you, as the observer, to Bribie’s beautiful environment in a way you may not have thought about and experienced before. This may also be true for the contributing artists who have come from a variety of specialist areas where they create art to last and be admired well into the future.
Once they accepted the invitation to contribute to the Yarun Ephemera Exhibition the artists have all well and truly stepped out of their comfort zones. By using materials such as grasses, rocks, soil, leaves, branches and flowers the artists have created sculptures that encapsulate the innate beauty of Bribie Island for that short time before they eventually break down back into nature.
Soft and hard but still temporary ephemera art
This special and unique Exhibition is open from 10.00am to 3,00pm on both Saturday 19 October and Sunday 20 October, 2024 at The Labyrinth, Bribie Island Community Arts Centre, 191 Sunderland Drive, Banksia Beach, Bribie Island.
This is a FREE event and bookings are not required. For more information contact Ange Venardos on 0409 055 756.
The
Yarun Ephemera Exhibition is one of the many attractions making up the
Island Nature Festival .
The festival is a fantastic initiative designed by Islanders as a means of inviting everybody to come and share with them the unique environment and natural beauty of Bribie Island. The festivities are set to take place in various locations in and around Bribie from Friday, 18th to Sunday, 20th October, 2024.
