Try the Tappas menu at the Yarra Lounge located at 7 Ballarat Street Yarraville for the most succulent salt and pepper calamares with a coriander yoghurt dip priced at $13.90.

I must admit, I asked for extra dip once I realised I smothered most of it half way through my meal. The friendly and attentive staff were happy to deliver that little bit extra. The Vegetarian Japanese Gyozas with a soy dipping sauce were tasty too, priced at $8.90 for a serving of 5. There is also a pita pizza menu starting from $7.90, which I am tempted to taste another time.

The whole Idea of tappas is tasting little plates of variety and you get that at the Yarra lounge. It offers a long list of mainly local and a few imported wines. Beer and spirits are very limited but I guess the wine makes up for that. The menu is written in chalk, on a board like wall, which you need to look up at as soon as you walk in, to notice what's on offer. So, you may find yourself standing there for a while until you decide on what you want.

I love the side plates with a nanna like pattern on them accompanied with a small bucket of self serve culinary and napkins before your food arrives. I guess it adds to the feel of the basic, not so squeezy, dimly lit, can see the chef and the kitchen hand working away, kind of place.

Well, if you want to experience a real local feel with the convenience of watching a movie. It's a place to go for pre or post movie dinner or drinks or both since it's directly opposite the Sun Theatre.
Open Mon- Thur 4pm til Late Fri-Sun 12pm til Late Ph. 96894090.
