Laugh and wow along with the ladies
Australians have fallen in love with circus performance thanks to the many innovative, artistic and provocative performances currently touring Australia and the world. The WonderWombs from New Zealand is an all-female circus party that combines intoxicating physicality with comedy and social politics, with a nudge and a wink.

About The Dust Palace

The Dust Palace, the performance company behind The WonderWombs, is a highly respected circus theatre company established in 2009 with the goal of creating touring circus theatre acts for the purpose of taking their stories across the country and to the world while fostering the art of physical performance in New Zealand.

About WonderWombs

WonderWombs promises to be a physical and acrobatic celebration of femininity in all its aspects. It aims to be sexy, provocative and funny. It hopes to surprise you, give you a nod and a wink, and then smash any expectation or stereotypes you might still possess.

The performance will have adults themes, coarse language and nudity because, of course, these should be part of a total tapestry of expression around female physicality.

About the Wonderland Festival

This four-day festival presented by the Brisbane Powerhouse is a celebration of comedy, theatre, cabaret, burlesque and more. The goal is to bring together the wonderfully weird to turn up the heat as we head into the warmer months.

About the Venue
Operating as an actual powerhouse from 1928 through to 1971, the building was renovated as an arts and entertainment venue in 2000 and further refurbished in 2006. It serves as one of Brisbane's most eclectic venues, providing a space for performances, exhibitions and outdoor events while still maintaining its historic style.

Food and drinks

Before the show, the most convenient place to eat is at the Powerhouse itself with a number of dining options including Bar Alto for drinks and Italian food and light meals, and Proud Mary which is famous for its cold seafood platter and other great food. You can also stop at any number of cafes, bars and restaurants in nearby Fortitude Valley, New Farm and Teneriffe.

If the weather is good, you can even have a relaxing picnic or barbecue in New Farm Park before the show. Drinking is permitted in New Farm Park, so a bottle of wine can be enjoyed while the sun sets.

Getting there

Driving to the Powerhouse in New Farm is rarely a problem with plenty of parking in the area. In fact, it is usually easier to drive than take public transportation, though of course you have the ferry to New Farm Park as well as several buses that run to the same location. If you plan to eat in a nearby location such as Fortitude Valley or Teneriffe, then driving definitely remains the better option.
