Who was Charles Darwin ?

Born in England in 1809, Charles Robert Darwin became known worldwide for his theory that animals and humans shared a common ancestry and his scientific theory of evolution became the foundation of modern evolutionary studies.

After returning from a voyage around the World aboard HMS Beagle , Darwin formatted his theory privately, but it was not until another two decades before he published a book titled, On the Origin of Species that he expressed to the public this challenging idea of evolution, which went on to influence modern western society and thought.

Presented by the Dead Puppet Society and The Princess Theatre , The Wider Earth , relating the story of a rebellious young Charles Darwin is being held at The Princess Theatre, 8 Annerley Road, Woolloongabba . Commencing Saturday 5th February through to Saturday 19th February 2022, tickets are selling fast for this award-winning drama and some nights have been sold out, so it is best to hop online now and reserve your seating.

Join the actors and producers as they portray the twenty-two year old Darwin's voyage to the far side of the world where he brings back important discoveries to change the scientific beliefs in history. The Wide Earth has been nominated for an Olivier Award and two Helpmann Awards.

Please note - this show is recommended for ages twelve and over. During the performance, there will be dead blackouts, naked flame, approved theatrical smoke, haze effects and strobe lighting. The use of photographs or recording equipment is not permitted.
