Arrive empty, leave full
The Waterfront Cafe and Restaurant, as the name suggests, looks out onto the beautiful Mindarie marina, where you can enjoy dining with a view, with lots of local boats coming and going and even the odd dolphin popping by for a hello. However, whilst the view is a great vista for the alfresco area, it's the quality of the food and the great service that keeps customer coming back again and again.
With extended opening hours that cover breakfast, lunch and dinner, you'll be spoilt for choice about when to visit and what to order. No matter what meal time you opt for, the menu is expansive with a gluten free menu also available for additional choices. The breakfast items are particularly delicious with exceptionally high standards in terms of the produce and final result. I am forever torn between their HUGE french toast ($12), American Breakfast ($20) and their big breakfast ($24). The portion size is incredibly generous and you'll likely not eat lunch after your indulgence.
A wide menu to suit all tastes
The lunch and dinner menu is one and the same, but large enough to offer a selection of lighter lunch time meals whilst also offering a good range of heartier main meals for evening dining. The sandwiches and burgers make great lunch time choices, and for dinner, the pastas or steak sandwich get my vote. Prices for main items range from around $14 up to $36 for a steak.
Big portions, that you might want to share (or not!)
Outside of traditional meal times, coffee and a cake is a real treat too, with great big slices of home made cakes and bakes. These portions definitely work if you are sharing as they are very generous.
There's a separate menu for children, with 6 choices of main meals each priced at $12 each. If you have two small kids with you, one portion would easily work for both children. There's some great choices that take a high road from the traditional chicken nuggets and chips route, and the nachos and pasta get particular kudos. There are also 5 options for children on the breakfast menu priced at $8.50 each.
Located at Mindarie Marina, The Waterfront is open Monday - Thursday between 8am-3pm, Friday & Saturday from 8am-10pm (Last orders 9pm) and on Sunday between 8am-5pm (last orders 4.30pm). The breakfast menu is served between 8.00-12pm and then the lunch menu takes over. However, if you've had a lazy one and missed the breakfast time, don't worry, the lunch time menu features a fabulous (and hearty) brunch plate for $20 that includes sausage, eggs (cooked your way), bacon and toast; worth lying in bed for.
