My husband and I were gifted vouchers for this tour and enjoyed ourselves last weekend with PJ as our fun and knowledgeable tour guide. The tour is limited to 13 and we had the pleasure of meeting other wine lovers from Canada, Germany and Holland.
PJ was a fun and perfect host as he supplied us with information about the wines and wineries that we visited. Most of the wineries are family owned small businesses. PJ also kept us entertained with his jokes and music.
One winery and sharing wine notes was all that was needed for our group of 13 to become good friends for the day.
The wineries that we visited included Witches Falls Winery, Mason Winery, Tambourine Mountain Distillery and The Cedar Creek Estate.
Lunch was at the Cedar Creek Estate and winery, where we were treated to a lovely 2-course meal. I chose the grilled salmon and creme brulee for dessert.
My husband ordered the Pork Belly and sticky date pudding. Both of which was delicious. Everyone enjoyed the lunch break and a chance to enjoy each others company.
Of course lunch was served with a good red which was shared and enjoyed with our new found friends.
Our day ended up at the Witches Chase Cheese factory and Fortitude Brewery, where some of the group had a taste of boutique beer. My husband and I loved the cheese tasting. All in all, it was a fantastic day out and certainly a big day with lots of wine consumed and lots of laughs all round.
The Vino Bus operates 7 days a week out of either Brisbane or the Gold Coast.
A full day tour (approximately 8 hours) costs $150. A half day tour ($130) and afternoon tour (approximately 5 hours for $100)
Bookings can be done online or by phone.
So if you enjoy a glass or two of wine, either white or red, then do yourself and favour and book a tour to experience the hidden gems of the Gold Coast Hinterland and support these local small boutique wineries.
