Treat yourself to golf on a world class course
The Vines Golf Course can be found about 45 minutes north of Perth, in the Swan Valley. There are a few ways to get to there, however the most entertaining is West Swan Road, which is lined with wineries and cafes.
The Vines Resort boasts a 5 star accommodation, with pools, tennis courts, and a range of café or restaurants on site. With two 18 hole golf courses designed by leading golf course architects, Graham Marsh and Ross Watson, golfers will be spoiled for choice.
The Lakes, known for its abundance of water hazards, offers golfers the opportunity to try their skill on the more technical shots. Both courses have bent grass greens, however I found the Lakes greens easier to attack as the ball was able to hold and not run as much Greens were smooth and had a good pace.
The Ellenbrook Course has a more open layout, which is a little more forgiving for those wayward shots. The greens are a little slower than the Lakes, however, some holes required a tactical approach while others allowed one to "grip it and rip it". Perfect for the long hitters.
Professional Golf Staff known for their excellent service
The Vines Golf Course has been the host for some major professional golf events such as the Johnnie Walker Classic and the Heineken Classic. Of course, this is no surprise as the Vines Resort is well known for their golfing and catering services.
One can find an abundance of wildlife on the golf course. It is not uncommon to see a few joeys popping their heads out of their Mum's pouch while watching you putt. Those new to the golf course will be advised to keep their distance from Kangaroos because they can be quite aggressive and cause some serious injury.
The Vines Golf Course could quite easily be a weekend venue for golfing enthusiasts. With a 5 star driving range, short game green and putting green, the Vines Golf Course is very close to any golfer's paradise. Plus, with everything else on site, golfers literally just need to book in and play the weekend away. As many weekends are booked out in advanced, it is a good idea to call to book both accommodation and a tee time. Needless say, this is one golfing holiday that you will thoroughly enjoy.
