Is your hump day feeling a bit flat? Need to spice up the middle of your week with a bit of variety? Try The Variety Collective on for size: a throwback to the days of vaudeville where the stage belongs to the performer, and anything goes.
Creativity abounds every Wednesday night at the Brunswick Green where you get to witness acts of anything from magic to circus and everything in between. Variety is in the name, and they mean it. Every week, you'll find a different line-up of local and international acts. And even the toughest of critics can't argue that at $10, it's a pretty good deal for a hump night's worth of entertainment.
The Variety Collective was created by a group of Melbourne performers who felt the need to expose the public to entertainment not typically available to the average Joe, unless aboard a cruise ship or attending the circus. While the variety acts in The Variety Collective are truly various every Wednesday night, the performers entertain without alienating. You don't have to be an artiste to enjoy off-the-wall performances--in fact, you might even get to participate in the fun.
So, if your midweek has become far too mundane, hop on down to the Brunswick Green on Sydney Road, grab a bite from the bar (can't go past the enchiladas or the ridiculously delicious veggie pie--yum!) & see what magic (or juggling or comedy!) The VC has in store for you.

Great article! The Variety Collective sounds like an amazing way to spend an evening. I loved all the photos: especially the last two, which seem like they captured really fun moments. (Tom Stevens looks a little taken aback – I hope he didn’t guess the wrong card.)
