"Now, Come, come, Mr. Bond. You disappoint me. You get as much fulfilment out of [three movies of comedic impersonations] as I do, so why don't you admit it?"
And somehow, I did enjoy this film. If you have seen the previous two instalments of Michael Winterbottom's collaboration with Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon then you will recognise the formula; the two friends are invited to tour 6 restaurants and write reviews. First the Lake District (2010), then Italy (2014) and now Spain. Rob Brydon and Steve Coogan play slightly fictionalised versions of themselves and the movie mainly consists of funny yet terse interactions between these actors, who have a friendly but competitive relationship. Steve is hitting brick walls following his Oscar nominations for Philomena and Rob is trying to balance work and family life. The actors vie for the audience's attention through repeated impersonations and improvised dialogue.
