Summer just got breezier at The Tower Hotel
Having studied at the University of South Australia - Magill campus for four years, I had always walked past the Tower Hotel. It didn't look like much of a place for me to venture into, but I was always curious as to what the Hotel offered to its customers.
While there is no memory of what the Tower Hotel looked before its 4 million dollar facelift, it sure is a beautiful place to visit. There are modern elements that have been fitted to parts of the Hotel, while still maintaining its heritage status by preserving the 1840s look through its breathtaking archways, wallpaper details, and leather seating.
At the re-launch event of the Tower Hotel, owner Greg Maitland stated that the Hotel's new look with reach out to a wider audience, who will be attracted to the idea of this quaint, little gem that is situated in Magill. Given how it is minutes away from the university campus, the Hotel will be offering services that are affordable to students, young adults, and the older generation all the same.
Its location at the foothills of the Adelaide Hills provides for a picturesque view coupled with decent customer service, delicious nibbles, and summer-friendly drinks. The Tower Hotel may look like a tiny pub on the outside, but its space will surprise you in a pleasing manner.
There is an inviting beer garden that is brought to life through the fairy lights illuminating the area. There is a dining area where guests can enjoy an intimate lunch or dinner with friends, partners, or families. And there's also a cinema showcasing family-friendly movies to up to 40 children. The theatre provides several snack options, such as fairy floss, popcorn, and choc tops (to name a few) and allows kids to be entertained while their parents enjoy a feast in the bistro-style dining area.
The Tower Hotel has upped its sports bar game, in terms of providing 14 beers on tap, growing hops, and providing a capacity of up to 120 people to enjoy the services offered here. There are refreshing cocktails that are also available on the menu and provide the right level of buzz to soak in the relaxing atmosphere at the Tower Hotel. At the re-launch event, guests were given options of locally sourced beer, wine, soft drink, juices, and cocktails such as Lychee Caipiroska and the classic Espresso Martini.
While the Lychee cocktail gave a cool and chilled taste, with the sharp and tangy flavours from the fresh fruit, the Espresso Martini had a beautiful balance of milky, strong coffee goodness that most people would crave after a long day at work. Hump day was well and truly celebrated in style with these drinks.
Additionally, the beer garden has provided booths that groups of 6-8 people can claim for the duration of their time spent at the Tower Hotel, where they can not only enjoy the fresh summer breeze as they wine and dine, but can also be treated to simplistic, soothing tunes through local singers and bands performing there, such as the sweet tunes played by local artist Kiera at the event.
Guests were treated to tastings and samplers from their new menu. As owner, Greg, explained in his speech, the menu and the space have been designed to reflect the minimalistic and health-conscious personalities of today's generation. His team of chefs has consulted with nutritionists to create a mix of meals and dishes that incorporate elements of seriously tasty food with healthy and nutritional benefits imbibed within. You can find classic pub meals on the menu, which will offer healthy side dishes such as vegetables and salads.
Whether you're a student who has just finished a long day of study at the uni campus, you're a tourist who is scouting the Eastern suburbs or has recently returned from a trip to the glorious Adelaide Hills, you're a local who has decided to venture out for a drink, or you're just a person who decided to catch up for an early dinner and drinks session with the friends/family, the Tower Hotel will be an ideal location to have a good and relaxed night out. With summer peeking back into our lives, the warm nights warrant for cheeky drinks, dancing to tunes, and satisfying the hungry in your belly with seriously simple and good pub-style food.
