It's taco time at The Jubilee
taco, cinco de mayo, jubilee

Things are going to get a little loco at The Jubilee Hotel on Sunday May 4. The popular Valley watering hole is holding one feisty competition to celebrate Cinco De Mayo their first annual Taco Challenge. The comp is part of weekend long celebrations featuring live music, lashings of tequila, and plenty of taco time.

And here's some news that will make you say 'arriba': there's a $500 cash prize for the winner plus runner up prizes.

Entry to the chilli challenge is only $15 (you could almost think of it like a cheap taco buffet), with the taco crusted crown going to the entrant who can shovel down the most tacos. The entertainment of watching the taco devouring happen, meanwhile, is absolutely free (tequila not included).

If you love a good pile of chilli, cheese, lettuce and tomato filled shells but the thought of ending up with a face covered in it doesn't appeal, you can take all the time you want to eat your fill on the Friday and Saturday (May 2 & 3) with all you can eat tacos only $30. An El Jimadour pop-up bar will be providing tequila to wash it all down and once the tacos have settled you can salsa the night away to live music.

If you are willing to abandon your manners and step up to the plate however, head to The Jubilee Hotel website to register for the taco challenge. And be speedy Gonzales about it.

Your Comment
You have to be either very brave, very stupid, or have an asbestos tongue to enter a chilli challenge.

The tacos will not be particularly spicy, chilli was more referring to the meaty Mexican goodness inside. The comp is more about eating as many tacos as possible!
