You will think you have stepped into Diagon Alley
Harry Potter and Hogwarts are coming to Melbourne in the form of a new Store of Requirement. There will be people solemnly swearing to love this store as the big news hits Melbourne that we can now visit the first-ever dedicated bricks and mortar Harry Potter store known as The Store of Requirement Melbourne.

Located in Collingwood, it is the sister store to the store in Brisbane, which has proved to be a roaring success.

The excitement begins to build as you arrive and start wandering past witches and wizards, with the store fully adorned in house capes, perhaps direct from Hogwarts. Although they come with a fairly hefty price tag, this did not seem to deter many upcoming students leaving in their favourite house uniforms.

The Store of Requirement Melbourne excitingly promises to have Australia's largest officially licensed range of Harry Potter collectibles. Your experience begins as you are greeted by the Sorting Hat on arrival. If you would like, you can have a meeting with the Sorting Hat to see which house you would be put into.

Whilst wandering through the store you will discover capes, hats, pens, jewellery, stationery, house scarves, potions kits, and the Monster Book of Monsters.

As a writer, this one was a little tempting to me, a beautiful book with glass inlay, themed pen and 2 x memory vials - all beautifully gift boxed for $49.50 *Image © Lesley Mitchell

Some of the lower priced items begin from around $5, but can get expensive quickly with a $450 wizard chess set or a $750 broomstick. However, with these hefty price tags, comes the enticing promise of being the closest you will get to Diagon Alley on Melbourne land.

Similar to the Harry Potter store in New York, you will even be able to enjoy a delicious Butterscotch Brew (think Butterbeer), with or without cream for the famous Butterbeer mustache. The sign on the wall discreetly announces where you can get this delicious drink.

Where once the destination of the Store of Requirement Melbourne was previously a strongly guarded secret held only by the Secret Keeper (true fact)!

I am delighted to let you know of the now not so secret location:

6 Smith Street, Collingwood

Telephone

Opening Hours:

There is also a glowing warm fire and a chair to sit in, just like you are in one of the house dormitories, perhaps have a read or enjoy your Butterscotch Brew here and as you have got this far in the article - here's a secret hint for you; take a close look at the image below, the back wall which looks like stone actually has a real secret doorway there. Whilst only staff members can enter, it's certainly fun to locate it!
