Opened in 1998, The Store on Melbourne Street in North Adelaide is a popular place with the locals to enjoy a good range of café-style dishes for breakfast or lunch. Aside from the items listed on their main menu, the café also has a selection of specials that can be chosen each day.
One of the dishes that were offered as a special, The Brunch consisted of two poached eggs sitting on top of a bed of a fry-up of bacon, chorizo, potato, capsicum, spinach and baked beans topped with rocket pesto. The eggs were perfectly cooked with runny centres and the fry-up had a delectable smoky texture which was balanced out by the plainer potatoes and baked beans. Served with the dish were toasted slices of ciabatta bread that you can top with the eggs or fry-up.

When ordering their omelette, you have the choice of selecting three ingredients from out of ham, tomato, cheese, spinach, bacon and mushrooms to be the filling of the dish. The bacon, mushrooms and spinach we chose for our omelette complemented each other well, set-off wonderfully by the fluffy and slightly firm omelette. Accompanying the omelette was a slice of toasted sourdough bread to provide a bit of contrast to the omelette.

For something a bit more suited for one, the Crispy Southern Fried Chicken Wrap is a good choice. The pieces of fried chicken were fried to golden brown and the combination of BBQ sauce and caramelized onions helped to deliver a delightful smoky hit. The chips served with the wrap were done very well with fluffy interiors and a crisp exterior.

While we did not try them, the café also had a decent range of delectable looking cakes and pastries that can be enjoyed as a snack or for dessert. The wooden décor of the café and the cement tables outside gave the place a rustic feel. There is a good amount of parking space on the streets close to where the café is located.
