For a moment, I had flashbacks to New York, the 'Sex in the City' series, a Carrie Bradshaw book launch - greeted by waiters with espresso and French martinis, champagne, canapes, paparazzi shooting the beautiful people, eloquent bouquets of flowers, pink balloons, and a deejay pumping Prince across the airwaves.
After 90 minutes of partying, I wondered whether Miss Marisa would actually get to launch The Stiletto Woman. Then suddenly the deejay was called to a cease-fire, whilst Marisa and her editor gave speeches.
Marisa spoke about how the dating scene is more complex than ever for women - particularly 40 plus women who are single, mums dating after separation, whilst juggling a busy life and career, and searching for love. The Stiletto Woman is a light-hearted read but has a more serious message about looking after yourself, taking control of your life, and getting the love you want, rather than the one you don't. Sounds like good old common-girl-sense to me!
The Stiletto Woman is Marisa's second book after her previous success Once Bitten, Twice Shy: When Love Doesn't Conquer All.
Now if you're clever, and visit www.missmarisa.com.au, you can download a free copy of Chapter 1 'Putting the Power in Empowerment', and then you might be tempted to buy both books as a great Christmas pressie for a special single friend or a 'single again' friend. Dear readers, I might even buy them for my Mum - as you're never too old to date!
Do yourself or someone else a real favour this Christmas, read this book, feel, and be glamorous again!
