Dinner and Drinks in Northbridge
The Standard is located in Roe Street, Northbridge.

The setting and atmosphere here is absolutely stunning. There is both indoor and outdoor seating with an upper level outside also. The outdoor part is decorated with glowing fairy lights and really makes the outdoor area very inviting.

We had a table booked for four people and were guided to our seats as soon as we asked about our table.

We were seated outdoors on the lower level at a very small table in front of the bar. I did not feel like the table was big enough for 4 people considering we were all eating and had booked the table for this purpose. Nevertheless, we ordered our wine and got on with the ordering.

The Standard has a great drinks menu packed with cocktail and wine options, as well as the usual beers and spirits.

On looking at the menu, the dishes are aimed to be shared but there are a few dishes you could order to enjoy yourself.

We enquired about the size Standard Charcuterie and if it would be enough for four people, we were assured it would be. We ordered the Standard Charcuterie($27), Beef Carpaccio($15), Potato Salad($18), Garlic Clams ($19)and the Caramelised Squid($16).

My favourite dishes were the Potato Salad and the Beef Carpaccio. Both dishes were a generous size and packed with flavours. The Potato Salad was fresh and and well seasoned. It was a big enough portion to share between us.

The Beef Carpaccio was deliciously tender and well seasoned. The wasabi cream was a complimentary addition and plentiful. This was quite a good portion size as we all had a few pieces of beef each.

Unfortunately I couldn't taste the Garlic Clams and the Caramelised Squid due to allergies but the feedback from my fellow foodies was good.

The Garlic Clams were cooked to perfection and there were no empty shells which is obviously important.

The Caramelised Squid was a little overcooked but the crackers on the side went down a treat.

The Standard Charcuterie was a disappointing size and it was recommended that it was enough for four people but it is definitely not. There was quite a range of cold meats but only three pieces of bread. Something to add moisture and more texture to this would have made an excellent dish.

If you are after a good atmosphere teamed with an extensive drinks menu and nibbles, chexk out The Standard.
