Jim, Janet & Joy Flood (Southern Art Connections) are featuring in the "Spring Exhibition" at Woolooware Shores (Reef Centre), 2 Alexander Avenue, Taren Point. Over two days, they will be displaying a fantastic collection of art, pottery, greeting cards and jewellery, all of which is for sale.

The Exhibition will be on Friday the 9th of September and Saturday the 10th September from10am to 4pm. Entry is free with free ticket in lucky door prize.

While you are there. you will be able to watch demonstrations by the palette knife master himself, Jim Flood. Jim is a well-known local palette knife artist, painting in the impressionistic style. His work is featured in private and corporate collections throughout Australia and overseas.

Over the years, he has studied the landscape with its many hues and colours and has developed his own distinctive painting style. Jim's modern, traditional paintings encapsulate the colours of Australia and reflect his great love for this country. He is particularly fond of our native gum trees in all their mystery and majesty. He has held numerous exhibitions and currently exhibits at The Boatshed at Woronora, NSW.

Janet Flood is a potter in her own right and has once again created plenty of magnificent pieces that would look great in any home or office. Janet uses mainly white stoneware, the bulk of the pieces are functional, wheel-thrown and used for domestic purposes.

Janet is a self-sufficient potter, formulating her own glazes and doing her own firing. She has a number of exhibitions a year, exhibiting with her husband, palette knife artist Jim Flood and is a member of Port Hacking Potters Group.

Joy Flood is another talented creator who is married to Jim and Janet's youngest son and has recently joined the group. Joy has created colourful jewellery with bubble gum beads, that is not only for the young, but the young at heart.

Proceeds from the exhibition will aid the McCusker Karviah Research Centre (Dementia Research) which was established in 2012 within Anglican Retirement Villages in Sydney with the hope of preventing the devastating onset of dementia. Dementia is the single largest health issue facing Australia in the 21st century with Alzheimer's disease the major cause of dementia.

While there you should take the opportunity to visit the Watercress Café, which will be open from 9.30am to 3.30pm. If you would like to book for lunch you should call them on 9710 7355.

If you have never been to Woolooware Shores before, then this exhibition will give you the opportunity to look around, as it is situated on picturesque Woolooware Bay in Sydney's Sutherland Shire.
