South Africans can be found all over the world, and Melbourne is no exception. With over 17,000 South Africans, the South African Shop, found on Hawthorn Road and one of two in Melbourne itself, the chosen place for South Africans to go shopping when they crave a little piece of home. Also, for those who are inquisitive about what sort of products and food stuffs are available on the southern tip of Africa, the South African shop is your one stop for everything South African.

With all things imported from Ouma rusks to All Gold tomato sauce, the South African shop is also one of the only places in all of Melbourne to supply biltong and boerewors, two traditional foods from South Africa that if the world knew about, would be world leaders in awesome cuisine. With the shop being located on Hawthorn Road and within a traditional Jewish area of Melbourne, the South African shop is also stocked with kosher products which have a distinctive South African flavour.

Apart from typical food, the South African shop offers a unique selection of alcoholic beverages only normally available in South Africa. Klipdrift brandy, Windhoek Lager and Hunters Dry cider are just some of the beverages available. South African wine, some of the best in the world, is also available at the South Africa shop.

Apart from all the shopping that you can do, the South African Shop is also home to the Shebeen Coffee shop, a relaxed spot where you can have a quick bite and some coffee before or after shopping as you prepare to continue on your day.
