The Sorrento Beach Shack, Hillarys Boat Harbour

In search of a budget-friendly feed at Hillarys Boat Harbour, we found the queue for fish and chips was too long. We'd had a bad experience before at the Noodle Box. And the prices at a third restaurant were too high.

The Sorrento Beach Shack , which is reasonably priced, family friendly and offers a huge range of deluxe burgers and more - while some tables have water views.
Our first experience was so positive that the next time we went to Hillarys, we didn't mess around but went straight back to The Sorrento Beach Shack.
From the
menu , our party of five selected various burgers, a serve of chips and a 700ml milkshake ($6.90), which three of us shared.
I chose the North Shore Burger - a Mt Barker grilled chicken breast with avocado, aioli, cheese, lettuce and tomato on a grilled Turkish roll. Filling, delicious and good value for $13.
If burgers aren't your thing, the menu also offers various pastas, fish and steak meals - although the prices for these are higher. There are 15 gluten free menu choices.
The chips ($6) were crisp and good although the accompanying aioli could have used more garlic.
We sat in a semi-open-to-the-elements area with views of the water. Ordering was a queue and get a table number and there was a free help-yourself water station.
I didn't notice it but, according to the restaurant's website, there is a children's play area. There is also a children's menu of dishes priced at $9.90 - although our little one just snacked off the adults' plates.
The Sorrento Beach Shack is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with
special offers on Wednesday and Thursday nights.
You can BYO wine and beer.
