Tucked away in lovely Olinda on the Mount Dandenong Tourist Road, the Snooty fox is a combination of quirky and romantic with an English aristocratic flair.

The restaurant had a dreamy beginning with owners Sarah Fenech and James Sheehan meeting at Heritage Gold club in 2002, whilst working as chefs. After six months of dating, the couple enjoyed a meal at the Snooty Fox and swore to one day own a restaurant of their own. A year later, the Snooty Fox was theirs.

The Snooty Fox is a lovely restaurant which serves lunch and dinner and it is also the perfect venue for weddings and functions. As a wedding venue, the area offers a place for the service and meals and also a picture perfect garden area for flawless wedding photographs.

Cool winter months see a roaring fire in the restaurant and a beautiful al fresco dining area can be taken advantage of in warmer weather.

The menu at Snooty Fox is hearty - offering home made soups, steaks, frittata, bangers and mash, pies, fish and chips, Chicken parmigiana, duck curry and a variety of pastas. Desserts include classic pavolva, brulee and bread and butter pudding. The Devonshire tea is a highlight and includes two huge scones, raspberry jam and whipped cream and your choice of tea or coffee.

During my visit to the Snooty Fox, my party of four dined on home made butternut soup and home made mushroom soup. The butternut soup was creamy and delightful with no cream in sight. The only ingredient in this soup was good quality butternut pumpkin. The mushroom soup was tasty with a great mix of herbs. My friend also enjoyed a beef burger which came with a side of chips and salad. The only thing to note is that a piece of their home made bread served with the soups would have been ideal.

The menu notes gluten free and vegetarian options and all appear reasonably priced. Servings were decent but I recommend a main portion of soup over entree size for a better sized meal portion.

The owners say the most important ingredient at the Snooty Fox is love, and I agree. The ingredients are fresh and everything feels home made. The setting is amazing with the lovely Dandenongs outside and the wood furnishings are very cosy, plus the staff are lovely and helpful.
