The Snail and the Whale, will hit the Arts Centre Melbourne stage this winter in a beautiful adaptation by UK production crew
Tall Stories .
The Snail and the Whale is perhaps one of the lessor known children's books by the creators of The Gruffalo; Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.
The delightful tale of the inquisitive snail, who journeys across the world on the tail of a whale, hits the Arts Centre stage in Melbourne just in time for the winter school holidays.
Although the story of The Snail and the Whale is not as well-known as its 'elder' book The Gruffalo, the tale still remains as touching and sweet as its predecessor.
The book follows a little sea snail who wishes to see the world, and realises he can do just that by hitching a ride on the tail of a grey-blue humpback whale.
The two unlikely friends become united, and discover the world together. They travel the high seas, overcome frightening storms to enjoy bright skies over foreign lands. Not without a little trouble of course, which involves the snail saving his supersized friend.
The much loved children's book has been adapted into a family stage show, and will perform at Arts Centre Melbourne's Playhouse stage from 29 June – 10 July, 2016.
Tall Stories is the UK production team behind The Snail and the Whale stage performance. The team will travel to Australia to perform exclusively at Art Centre Melbourne. The production crew is perhaps best known for their fantastic on stage interpretation of the Gruffalo and Room on the Broom.
