It was my husband's birthday recently and when I asked him for his choice of restaurant he said "The Smoke" without hesitation.
Established in 2006, The Smoke BBQ is famous for its tasty American BBQ fare among New Farm locals. It features classic American cuisine including Buffalo chicken wings, Texas beef ribs and Kanzas City baby back ribs.
We arrived at The Smoke early and were greeted by an extremely friendly waitress. Then our drink orders were taken, menus were given and waters were poured quickly and efficiently.
Its menu consists of a few starters such as their popular buffalo wings, and lots of mains including salads, sandwiches, steaks and various BBQ items. Apart from the spinach and artichoke dip, onion rings, and spinach and strawberry salad, everything else on this menu screams meat, meat and more meat I could tell that my carnivorous husband was in heaven as he read the menu.
I do love their Buffalo wings and tend to get a craving for them every now and then. Here, they serve it in three flavours: original, blue hot, and honey soy. Other than the Buffalo wings, however, I was a little stuck on what to order. In the end, we opted for the pork and chicken platter to share for the main, 10 blue hot Buffalo wings and smoked ceegars.
Our starters arrived so it was time to chow down. The smoked ceegars were just delicious. It was full of flavour, colour, and texture, and I especially loved the sauce. The Buffalo wings were second to none. Their blue cheese dressing was perfect as per usual, there was enough sauce on the wings itself and the spiciness was perfect. It was a pity that they didn't provide any wet napkins, but I thoroughly enjoyed licking my fingers clean.

The platter came not long after and man, it was a feast. There was so much on the plate that I didn't know where to start. Our platter consisted of pulled pork, pork belly, a half Hickory chicken, chips and coleslaw.

My favourite was the pork belly. It just melted in my mouth and I absolutely loved the flavour. One downside, though, was that some part of it was cold so it didn't taste very pleasant.
The pulled pork was tangy, tender and tasty. And I must admit I didn't enjoy the Hickory chicken at all.
So I'm glad I did some 'preparation' prior to my big meal at The Smoke. This included a vegetarian dinner the night before and a salad for lunch on the day. So I was quite ready for this carnivorous meal.
We had a fantastic night on the whole. With fabulous service, friendly staff and delicious food, I can see why the restaurant was almost full on a Wednesday.
