Brisbane's Most Iconic Pub

Urban Adventures and Discovery.

The Ship Inn is an excellent venue for people who are looking for an iconic place where food and atmosphere are curated and where the guests are welcomed with a genuine old charm, mouthwatering dishes and peacefulness.

The Ship Inn was built in 1864 and originally was a drinking noisy place den. Over the years, the pub become famous for its great lamb dishes and a classic pub-style menu.

The Ship Inn was heritage listed, but it was removed from the national heritage register in 1993, due to the renovations carried out for the 1988 Expo.

Today the pub boasts three great dining areas, function rooms and convention facilities with a capacity to cater for 200 people. This venue is ideal for couples, families, groups and celebrations.

The Ship Inn is in a superb location in South Bank, just near the Goodwill Bridge and the trail adorned with bougainvillea.

The Ship Inn is in a prime position on the Brisbane River, near Brisbane City, with bridges connecting the opposite banks of the river. It is an amazing venue in Brisbane in South Bank.

The Ship Inn is not just impressive for the quality of the food, the charming atmosphere and the great location; it also offers an ambience without the noisy and grotesque poker machines, flashing screens and the confusion of the TAB.

The plants and the decorations in the Ship Inn contribute to a pleasant experience.

Menu.

The menu offers a variety of well-selected choices, including small meals, salads, pasta, burgers, steaks, sides, traditional pub meals and kid's meals. The menu presents the special of the day, just ask when you are about to order.

Dietary requirements are contemplated in the menu, including vegetarian, gluten-free and vegan options.

Ship Inn remarkably operates its own farms which practice ethically and sustainable techniques to produce beef, lamb and chicken. Boonara farm is west of Brisbane and the Friday Hut Farm is at Bangalow in the Northern Rivers of New South Wales. Ship Inn also partners with Gooralie free-range pork, from the fertile lands of the Darling Downs.

Bao Buns is a small meal made up of two soft bao buns filled with crispy chicken, pickled carrot, fresh cucumber, Sriracha mayo, topped with coriander leaves. It is great as an entrée or if you just would like to eat something small.

Bao Buns are delicious, they are great for a small meal.

You can find Beef Wellington in the Pub Meals, grass-fed rump steak topped with finely chopped caramelized onions and sealed with a light crepe to ensure tenderness, then wrapped in pastry and baked golden brown, served with creamy mash, blistered cherry tomatoes, seasoned vegetables and a mushroom sauce.

Great fresh food from the menu.

Functions.

The Ship Inn has all the facilities to host great parties, functions and celebrations. The amazing location in Southbank Parklands means that transport, accommodation and parking are within walking distance.

The venue has a variety of areas for private functions, a conference room and private Queenslander-style verandah and private areas within the restaurant and beer garden.

The Ship Inn offers dedicated menus which include entrée, main, sides, salads and desserts; a buffet with finger food menu and vegan options.

Where the Food Comes From.

Boonara is a large cattle farm located on the banks of the Bremer River in the outstanding Scenic Rim region.
The Ship Inn bought the property in 2021 and since then the cattle have been raised respecting animal welfare and land conservation. The cattle are free to roam and graze, and trees have been planted to improve the soil and gradually return the land to a better state.

The chickens are farmed at Boonara Station and Friday Hut Farm at Bangalow, in the Northern Rivers of New South Wales. The chickens can access fresh grass and water all the time.

In the Darling Downs, the Charollais is a relatively new breed of sheep in Australia, chosen for the production of superior quality meat.

Gooralie Farm aims to produce exceptional quality pork, free of growth hormones and antibiotics, delivering meat full of flavour and tenderness.

The Ship Inn offers quality meat, obtained with ethical farming.
