This Is The Bar You Were Looking For
The SG on York street is one of my favourite bars. I used to run an ESL school in the same building and would simply be able to leave my office, take the lift to the lower ground and walk in, so I got to know Jason, the owner/manager, from the day the bar opened. He's a great guy who really cares about his customers.
The SG has given me some great memories over the years (though I can't stop calling it the name it is supposed to be called – The Spooning Goats) and I've had language exchange groups, student groups, teachers groups and more there, enjoying the walls decked out with Star Wars pictures and other SF/Fantasy paintings. Awhile ago there was even a large 1930s style Doctor Who Dalek poster near the men's room.
There have been some memorable moments too, like taking friends there who I had no idea liked Star Wars and they would suddenly geek out over all the Star Wars memorabilia that Jason had on display.
Time Travelling Delorians outside The SG
Or awhile ago during international Back to the Future II Day (October 21st 2015) when three Delorians (one of them a replica of the time travelling Delorian from the movie) suddenly materialised outside the bar. They'd heard it was an SF theme bar and wanted to drop by.
Enjoying a Star Wars themed craft beer
I highly recommend you check out this bar when you have a chance. They have a couple of craft beer taps, a number of local NSW craft beer bottles in the fridge, Jason makes some fantastic signature cocktails, and you can buy a plate of homemade little pie tasters as well as other food.
