Soil is the least attractive part of a garden but it is the most important component. It is the foundation of every healthy and attractive garden. This course will teach you the basics of soil and the components such as texture, structure, density, colour and the importance of organic matter and microbiology. You will also learn the methods of improving the soil in your garden.

This course is part of a series of short sessions organised by Botanic Gardens and State Herbarium of South Australia. The courses are designed for people new to gardening and people who would like to expand their horticulture knowledge. The 2019 Short Course Series gives you an opportunity to get a solid foundation on good gardening practices.
