A feel good film to help you escape and dream
It's easy to take things for granted in our modern world with everything we want right at our fingertips. Going to the movies has always been a simple pleasure that has easily been obtained for most of us. Usually we just pick a movie we want to see, choose a time and a cinema location and off we go. When the cinemas closed during lockdown however, our simple and most loved pleasures were truly missed and those things we took for granted we started to really appreciate.

The Secret - Dare To Dream

When the cinemas finally reopened, one of the first new releases to hit the scene was the movie - The Secret, Dare To Dream starring Katie Holmes and Josh Lucas. This PG-rated film follows the life of Miranda Wells (Katie Holmes) who is a widowed mother of three and her unfortunate series of events. She meets Bray (Josh Lucas) when she accidentally runs into the back of his truck. When Bray sees that Miranda is frazzled, he offers to follow her home and fix her ute. When he arrives, however, he realises that she is actually the person he had come to town to see in order to deliver a very important envelope.

That evening, a hurricane hits the town and Miranda's house is partially destroyed. The envelope that Bray had decided to leave in her mailbox after he left her house that evening had also been blown away. This film has a double entendre as the secret refers to the power of the law of attraction but as the film continues, we start to see that the secret is actually very much in relation to Bray keeping the contents of the envelope from Miranda.

The film is based on the very popular book written by Rhonda Byrne in 2006 which states that like attracts like and that you get what you think about. Lucas's character is well versed in the law of attraction and slowly teaches Miranda and her children about this philosophy. He helps her to move out of her negative mind state in order to attract all that she truly desires.

This is definitely a light-hearted film which is probably something that we all need right now. It is easy to watch, has a happy ending and provides as a great escape from the worlds current events.

The Secret is now playing in cinemas around Australia.
