The Tardis
Where will the TARDIS appear next?

The TARDIS is landing in Melbourne. Comedian Rob Lloyd and his bubbling laboratory of scientists will explore the mysteries of Doctor Who in a live interactive stage show, The Science of Dr Who, presented by RiAus and BBC Worldwide. You can be part of this amazing journey through time and space. The Science of Dr Who will feature loads of original scenes from the BBC television series.

Rob Lloyd and his exploding test tube of scientists will investigate teleportation and time travel. Find out:

How the TARDIS is bigger on the inside.

Is regeneration possible?

Bring your tablet or smartphone and take part in the interactive experience. Decide which Doctor Who alien will take over the universe. The scientists helping you delve into dark matter are: Dr Martin White, a particle astrophysicist at the University of Adelaide; Dr Allie Ford, a science communicator at Monash University; Dr Alan Duffy, an astrophysicist at the University of Melbourne and David Jennens a physicist from the University of Melbourne who is working at the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland. 'This will give everyone something to talk about for a very long time to come,' says RiAus Director, Dr Paul Willis.

Paul Willis, whose doctorate is in palaeontology, has a long connection with science and previously worked on TV shows Catalyst and Quantum. On World Vasectomy Day, October 2013, RiAus screened 17 live vasectomies worldwide. During this highly publicised event, the surgeon skilfully fielded questions from the audience while operating. Willis uses live events and social media to open up opportunities for discussion between doctors, scientists and audiences. Programs like Science Behind the Headlines are streamed online. 'I like to think we zig when everyone else zags,' says Willis. That sounds like a skill he might have picked up as a traveller on the TARDIS.

The Perth Mint is donating collectors' sets of Doctor Who Monsters Coins valued at $375. One lucky alien or audience member will win a valuable classic keepsake of this amazing show. There is one set per performance on offer!
