Kids naturally love to get their hands dirty exploring and interacting with the natural world. With a little guidance from The Sage Garden, they can turn their curiosity into a wonderful hobby and learn the invaluable skill of growing their own fruits, herbs and vegetables.

The Sage Garden was developed by Natasha Grogan who wanted to combine her teaching background and love of organic gardening to launch her own business. Having had many years of experience working in The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program and training as a qualified teacher, Natasha now passes along her passion for organic gardening through her classes and workshops.

Home-based visits are a tailored program available for children of all ages to discover the joy of gardening. Activities include the entire family and are a great way to learn in a relaxed home environment. Children spend time creating growing calendars, building garden structures, learning about bugs and planting and mulching their very own gardens. Seasonal herbs, fruits and vegetables will be planted from seedlings and seeds.

The Sage Garden will return for a follow-up session in a month to see how the gardens are faring, and can even provide regular check-ups to help set up a successful family kitchen garden. Home-based visits include all materials, such as seedlings, mulch and soil so you don't have to worry about providing your own supplies. It's a great way to introduce kids to the magic of growing their own food, with delicious and healthy results.

Kids Birthday Parties by The Sage Garden

For a kids birthday party with a difference you might also want to contact The Sage Garden. Children will have heaps of fun and learn from engaging activities such as creating a posy with seasonal herbs and flowers, decorating a seed carry bag and planting out an existing garden bed with seasonal vegetables, fruits, herbs and flowers. Edible seed party bags to take home are also included.

The Sage Garden also runs regular workshops popping up at markets, shopping centres, festivals and cafes. Keep an eye out on their website or Facebook page for upcoming classes and a chance to get some first hand advice on nurturing young green thumbs. Adults might even learn something too!

At the end of the day Natasha states that her goal is to "educate and encourage children, families and communities to grow their own organic fruit, herbs, vegetables and flowers. We want the programs to bring the joys of gardening and sustainability to children and communities. To nurture sense of wonder, excitement and empowerment through growing food that is healthy for us, in a way that is healthy and sustainable for our environment."
