I Bet You Can't Taste All 15 Unique Flavours?
In days of old and tales of pirates, the legendary stories of Rum have gone down amongst men in history. However it is not a drink that I would generally consider a ladies drink. Well think again!
The Rum Diary Bar in Brunswick Street Fitzroy is set to start a new standard of rum drinking - for people from all walks of life.
We were invited by owner of The Rum Diary Bar in Fitzroy, Hamish Goonetilleke, and business partner, Suze Macrae to taste their rum and see if we could determine the ingredients that we're in it. We actually held a little competition between ourselves to see who could taste and name the most ingredients.
I was delighted to be the winner, discovering 9 different ingredients that I could taste within the rum, yet that still left 6 that eluded me.
I challenge you here!
Go to the Rum Diary Bar, tell Hamish, Lesley from WeekendNotes sent you and see if you can determine all 15 different herbs and spices contained within. The staff will be only to happy to assist you and keep you guessing. (I'm not going to give them all away, you'll have to have a game yourself).
With hints of cinnamon, orange, black pepper and the rum's citrusy tones coupled with warm undertones, it is certainly a drink on its own that is a delight to sit and sip.
However The Rum Diary Bar will also make amazing cocktails using the rum as a base. From a light spritzy drink with soda, perfect for hot days, to a muddles apple concoction - they were all delicious and refreshing in their own way.

If you're out and feel like sharing a special drink alone or with a friend pop into The Rum Diary Bar where their spiced rum is already available in 7 different retailers around Australia and they are hoping to expand, however I always like going straight to the makers, meeting the people who created the product, perhaps sitting down and even having a drink with them and allowing them to share their enthusiasm with you.
Even if the makers aren't available at the time that you pop into The Rum Diary Bar, you will be able to sit in the ambiance and the space where it all came together.
Even if you are just after a fun experience The Rum Diary Bar certainly provides that, however if you are the sort of person who loves to take a taste adventures, then we would love to hear what you think of The Rum Diary Bar spiced rum.
Please pop in tell them you heard about it on WeekendNotes and come back here and write a comment as to what you thought of your experience.
We would love to hear your thoughts suggestions and ideas, perhaps we could even start a little recipe group on this page in the comments section at the top of this article- you can write your recipe and the way you enjoyed The Rum Diary Bar spiced rum.
