Looking for a fun event for the children these school holidays?
The Rrrrockets are a seven-piece band playing rockabilly music suitable for children aged 3-9 (and their parents!) and they have a show coming up at the
Kew Court House , located at
188 High Street Kew, at
11.00am on Thursday 22 September.
Get your kids' toes tapping with this mix of red hot rockabilly, skankin' ska, swingin' big band and toe tappin' four-on-the-floor rock 'n' roll.
The band is led by Matt Rocket and features Davy Rocket (Augie March) on drums, Gideon Rocket (Gotye and Voodoo Mayhem New Orleans Brass Band) on saxophone, Dave Rocket (The Audreys, Renee Geyer Big Band, many more) on trombone and Micky Rocket (The Black Arm Band, The Bamboos and more) on double bass.
Getting kids excited about music and dancing, while having an all-round fun, interactive experience, is what The Rrrrrockets are all about. Matt Rocket had been making music for several years before he started the band shortly after having children. Matt said: "Once I had children I began creating songs for them, and then I met Davy and started rocking out with him, creating songs that could be enjoyed by parents too and the band took off from there."
The Rrrrrockets have played at major events and festivals including Queenscliff Music Festival, Moomba Festival and New Year's Eve Concert at the MCG.
For the performance on 22nd September, families can expect a dance contest with prizes, children being invited up on the stage to perform parts of songs, and inflatable guitars flying around.
The concert will run for 50 minutes (no interval).
Tickets are $20 ($15 if you have a group of four or more). To buy tickets,
