A festival devoted to a range of workshops covering watercolours, oils, drawing and much more.


Held at both Petrie Terrace Gallery and at off-site locations, this is the time to try something new and see what Brisbane tutors have to offer. Half and full day workshops for both children and adults are available. During the festival we will also be exhibiting works in the gallery by some of our fabulous tutors, so make sure to come visit the gallery during this fabulous event.

Supported by the Lord Mayor’s Community Fund and Cr. Seal Chong Wah, Councillor for the Paddington Ward’.

Open Day: Saturday 5th April 10:30-2:30. This free event is an opportunity for attendees to mingle, meet tutors and other artists, see product demonstrations, and find out more about other local art groups, as well as the workshops included in the workshop festival. Devonshire Tea will also be available for purchase.

  • Paint your own Easter Bilby or Bunny with Dr Kathy Sullivan - Friday 11th April
  • Everyday Sketchbooks with Deb Mostert - Saturday 12th April
  • Watercolour Wonder: Embrace the Joy of Splash Splatter and Surprise with Annette Raff - Saturday 12th April
  • Introduction to En Plein Air Painting with Richard Blundell - Saturday 12th April
  • Oil Painting Workshop with Isabella Allis - Sunday 13th April
  • Don’t Take the Photo! Photography Workshop with Colin Bushell - Sunday 13th April

  • On Saturday 12th April, Introduction to En Plein Painting with Richard Blundell, pictured above, will provide attendees with unique opportunities to explore questions of landscape and tangible cultural heritage using practical working methods of painting in the outdoors directly from life in oil paints.


    Tickets to both the Open Day and all our workshops can be booked via Humanitix.

    Sketchbook drawing example by Deb Mostert. Deb’s workshop The Everyday Sketchbook, on Saturday 12th April, will explore the use of sketchbooks as an everyday record of a life observed. With a simple kit of materials that you can carry with you; you can start a habit of drawing every day.
