Paddle your own canoe, paddleboard, surfboard, kayak or ski
You've heard of fun runs, fun walks, fun swims and fun cycles, but what about a fun paddle? Well, on 29th March you can paddle your own canoe, paddleboard, surfboard, kayak, ski or inflatable at the inaugural Rose Bay Paddle. No experience is necessary, just bring your enthusiasm, a willingness to have a go, a can-do attitude and a sense of fun.
The event site is located at the boat ramp in front of the Woollahra Sailing Club, at the end of Vickery Ave (off New South Head Road) in Rose Bay. To cater for participants of all abilities and the full range of paddling craft, three courses are available, ranging in length from 1.5 kilometres to 10 kilometres:
1.5KM - For Inflatables, Ocean Strollers and 'Paddle With A Pooch'
The 1.5KM course will run from the boat ramp along the edge of the beach and back. This one is for those who are happy to meander a little, take in the sights, and enjoy the harbor. It might be your first time paddling, you're on an inflatable or you just want to relax and have fun. You can even paddle with your four-footed best friend.
5KM – Recreational Paddlers For those competing in the recreational race, the 5KM course will loop around the edge of Rose Bay up to Queens Beach and back. This is for those who don't mind a fun race, whether it's against the clock, friends, families or work-mates.
For elite racers the 10KM course will consist of two laps of Rose Bay. This is for those who are in it to win it and ready to beat the field.
You can now register online here. The cost is $25 for Juniors (aged 15 to 17 yrs) and $35 for Seniors (aged 18 and over). If you don't have your own paddle craft don't worry. You can pre-book a stand-up paddle board when you register. All participants will receive a free T-shirt and Red Bull.
Over $3000 worth of prizes will be on offer across a variety of categories ranging from placegetters to those in 33rd and last place, or for fancy dress, teams and best craft. It will be a day of partying with DJs, fancy dress and delicious food including a classic barbeque breakfast, coffee cart and The Veggie Patch food van. Stand-up paddleboard and ski manufacturers will also be demonstrating their craft.
Come with your friends, family or workmates for a fun morning on the water at this year's Rose Bay Paddle.
