Cult film experience that is a must
What is the worst film ever made in the history of mankind? Well, if you have seen 'The Room (2003)', you would answer with this film. If you are like me and have not yet seen this film we would answer differently. Then be intrigued at how such a bad film with such a cult following escaped our knowledge. Then quite possibly, like me you are now thinking "For this film to be given such a title I must see this for myself."
While sitting in my film class at university, my lecturer showed us a couple of scenes just to show us how bad it is. Then he followed with explaining about how just like watching the Rocky Horror Picture Show as the fans of this a cult film do random things while watching the film in order to actually enjoy the whole 99 minutes. These activities include shouting lines, cheering, throwing plastic spoons and footballs. After being told all of this, my interest sparked and I began looking to build up a group of friends who would like to come along to see this terrible film with me.
Tommy Wiseau writes, directs and stars in this 2003 movie which is his first production. So what is this film actually about? And what actually makes it so terrible? IMDB.com merely states: "A happy-go-lucky banker sees his world fall apart when his friends begin to betray him one-by-one." That should be the first warning that there would be something wrong with the plot line. The fact that the plot line is just one sentence on IMDB. Throw in bad acting as well as scenes, props and costumes that make absolutely no sense what so ever. Oh, not to mention the talked about sex scene that makes you cringe while watching.
So where can you see this tragedy of a film? Each year Luna Outdoor Cinema has a few screenings where you can enjoy the crazy evening with family, friends, randoms or just yourself.
