The annual Rocks Village Bizarre is on every Friday night from 7 November to 19 December 2014. Wander into The Rocks and be mesmerised by the cobblestone laneways which have been transformed into a curious world filled with secrets, intrigue and treasures.
Come in and mix-n-mingle. Seek out the secret installations, join in the frivolities, glam-up with a makeover and sample delicious food at one of the open-air food stalls. You will walk away into the night feeling enlightened with a bit of playfulness.
I am going to reveal a few glimpses of the Best of Bizarre to give you the foresight for a fun, quirky and spontaneous Friday night out.
First you will see Jessica Wong, who is saturated in vibrant colours. Step closer to exam this curious character and watch her perform a short punk movement piece. Window shopping will never be the same again!
Next you will be wowed by Rakini Devi, the Kali Madonna who integrated Indian classical dance with surreal visual installations. Her performance has been presented in New York and Mexico and draws intercultural inspiration from deities such as the Mexican Virgin Guadalupe and the Hindu goodess Kali.
A ghost tale of First fleet shoemaker George Legg and his convict wife Ann Armsden as they re-telling their tale about drowning, highway robbery and freshly baked bread. This is a 20 minutes performance at The Rocks Discovery Museum.
Let your appetite take a wander around the open-air restaurant food stalls. This is a great foodie festival showcasing some of the great restaurants in The Rocks area. You will see Baroque Bistro Bar Patisserie dishing up their tantalising signature Truffled Cheeseburger, or be amazed at Lowenbrau's giant German sausages.
If you think Parlour Bizarre is just for the ladies, think again. Barber Supreme offers the old-world charm of a classic barber experience to the modern gentlemen. Barber Supreme will be on hand to trim and shape your beards and mustaches. Enjoy the old-fashion details like hot towel and personalised service.
