I'm a novice writer, living in the heart of Sydney. Interests include food & wine (esp. gluten free options), Japanese culture and making the most of our beautiful city.

I awoke to a cool but sunny day in Sydney last weekend. I love this time of year - the humidity has finally gone and the leaves are starting to fall, yet the sun is still shining all day long. I had friends arriving around lunchtime for an outing in the city, which I was really looking forward to. We began by walking up to Botanical Gardens and took in the parkland and gardens. It really is a pretty sight with the city buildings as a backdrop to the park on one side and the harbour on the other.

From there we took the Cahill Walk (via the steps from Macquarie Street up to the Cahill Expressway). It really is a great way to get a different view of our beautiful harbour and Circular Quay. We walked across the bridge, taking in the sights as we went and went down the steps at the other end (Cumberland Street at the Rocks). Luckily the Australian Hotel was only a couple of minutes away as we were in need of a cool beverage. We took an outside table in the sun and ordered some beer and cider - amazing range of boutique beers and a good selection of cider by the bottle as well. We also ordered pizza (one devil's seafood and one duck). They have gluten free options as well which is great for me and my friends were happy to go with that as a base on both. Seriously good pizza - probably the best I have had in ages. Highly recommend trying them out.

The other highlights included the Rock's Markets which are on every weekend, and stopping off for ice-cream at Copenhagen's on George Street - Yum! A perfect end to a perfect day.
