The Rocks Friday Foodie Market is on every week from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm at Jack Mundey Place, Playfair Street.
Many of us love markets and what a fabulous place to have one - The Rocks! It is a cool, relaxed environment with passionate people making their own food to tempt us in a great market.
There are actually two markets at the Rocks - one is the Foodie Market and the other is the ordinary markets which are on Saturdays and Sundays from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm.
The Rocks is such a convenient place to get to and is nestled on the doorstep of the CBD, but of course, the pace is far slower there and more charming.
There are many things that attract people to the Foodie markets - it could be the comforting smell of freshly baked bread or zesty lemon; it could be the taste of gozleme and feta; or perhaps for you it is the tender lamb and beef available.
You can get breakfast, lunch and snacks in between and you will not be disappointed at the quality food served at the Rocks Foodie Market!
You will be able to sample foods from many areas around the world and all this in an open-air fresh food market, in between Sydney's picturesque harbour and the Harbour Bridge.
Why not meet some friends here and you can walk on the charming cobbled lane-ways that are The Rocks and walk through stalls where homemade preserves, seasoned cured meats, mouth-watering burgers and traditional gozleme will tempt your taste-buds.
Some of the food vendors there include (though they are not all there each week):
Biltong-To-Go - Biltong is an air-dried beef delicacy similar to beef jerky, but better! Traditionally it is from South Africa and Biltong-To-Go make it right here in Sydney using Australian beef and an authentic traditional recipe. There are various flavours you can choose from.
Danieli Skewers - these have an enticing smoky scent and a mouth-watering flavour.
Danieli is an owned and operated family business, and Ron Danieli makes these wonderful morsels.
There is a choice of garlic infused prawns, marinated octopus, juicy and tender lamb, steak and kangaroo fillets, Portuguese chicken or freshly filleted fish skewers. Danieli's skewers also come with homemade relishes and sauces.
Dare - Gozleme
Turkish Gozleme is one of my favourites - inexpensive, tasty and quick to make and made while you watch. There is a choice of traditional and contemporary savoury gozleme that will keep you going through breakfast and lunch and all the way to dessert.
For a sweet delight, why not try their Nutella and banana gozleme!
Emporium of Chocolate - these are handmade chocolates inspired by Brazilian desserts. Traditionally crafted, unique and totally addictive!
The Emporium of Chocolate make only delicious and mouth-watering unique chocolate. They are wrapped in bright colours, zebra stripes and leopard prints and also make a great gift.
Hero Sushi Box - They have a great range of delicious Japanese food, including a variety of gyoza, okonomiyaki, mixed sushi boxes, sushi rolls and Teppanyaki chicken. They cater to both vegetarians and lovers of meat and seafood.
The Fine Food Store - this is nutritious homemade food and you can choose from the bacon and egg roll, lamb and rosemary sausage, Wagyu beef burger, chicken chorizo or Fine Food's classic steak sandwich.
Pukara Estate - they have olive oil and other olive products, as well as vinegar, dukkah, smoked salts, relishes, tapenades, pesto and other olive products that make the perfect complement to any meal.
Here you can try the product before you buy it to take home!
Giorgi's Gelato - For a sweet treat, Giorgi's Gelato offers quality traditional Italian gelato using the freshest ingredients with no artificial colours or flavours.
All the recipes are handed down from Stefano's family, who come from a town near Milan in Italy.
Dare - Juice Bar - they have healthy options such as a freshly squeezed juice and other delicious combinations from the menu or invent your own.
Why not treat yourself and go to these food markets at The Rocks - you can find out more from their
website here.
