The Rocks markets on a weekend have long been a favourite of mine and now Sydney is set to see a touch of France in Argyle Street and the surrounding laneways with a Christmas in July market, as part of the Bastille Festival.
Twelve wooden chalets, imported from Europe, will transport you into the famous and magical winter Christmas markets of the Northern Hemisphere allowing you the chance to pick up some unique and beautiful items.
The amazing array of pop-up Christmas stalls include items such as wooden toys, candles, artisan creations, Christmas decorations and more. You should be able to find the perfect presents for loved ones and in doing so you'll do away with some of the last minute shopping and stress in the lead up to Christmas Day.
There will be plenty of authentic French food as well with wonderful waffles, crepes and saucisson that will vie for your attention. Hot chocolate and mulled wine will warm your soul and get you in the spirit of the season should you not already be.
Whilst the aromas of food and wine are strong, so is the fragrance of a real Christmas tree standing tall and beautifully decorated with baubles. The evening also brings the sight of twinkling fairy lights and the sounds of Christmas with carollers having you singing and swaying in the streets.
The Rocks Christmas in July market will alight all the senses and will begin at lunchtime, however, the magic ramps up after 4pm, when the day begins progressing into evening and the atmosphere of Yuletide takes hold. So bring the family and enjoy this and other wonderful events as part of this premier French festival.
Irene, your article made this event look SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better than it actually was. What a pity. I'd say to people ...don't bother to make the effort. Xmas trees scattered around and a few decorative wreaths with 2 stalls selling Xmas trinkets (amongst other items) does not a Xmas Market make!
The French Festival was completely separate............
